About Sudoku

Sudoku rewards explanations rather than guesses. Every placement must fit its row, column, and 3 by 3 box at the same time. Use the supplied notes to keep candidates visible, then work on the areas with the fewest possibilities. A digit that looks right locally can still conflict with a clue elsewhere in the same column.

Your goal: Complete a 9 by 9 grid so each row, column, and 3 by 3 box contains the digits 1 through 9 once.

Tap a cell and use the number pad. Notes and dense nine by nine cells benefit from Larger board or a computer.

Sudoku tips

  • Begin with rows, columns, or boxes that have only a few empty cells.
  • Use notes to compare candidates before committing a digit to a crowded area.
  • After placing a digit, check which candidates it removes from intersecting regions.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Looking only at a row while overlooking the selected cell's column or box.
  • Assuming a digit is certain merely because the game does not highlight a current conflict.

Questions about Sudoku

Can I edit the starting clues?

No. Given digits are fixed. Select an editable cell to enter a number, erase it, or add candidate notes.

Which solving tools are available?

You can toggle notes, erase entries, and undo recent edits. There are three selectable puzzles, and conflicting digits appear in red.
