About Klotski

Klotski is a sliding-block puzzle in which useful space matters as much as the target block. Smaller pieces often need to move away from the exit before the large red block can move toward it. Plan which gaps you need to create, then work backward from that arrangement rather than trying to push the target downward on every turn.

Your goal: Slide the red 2 by 2 block to the bottom-center exit on the 4 by 5 board.

Klotski tips

  • Try the tutorial layout first to learn how different block sizes share empty spaces.
  • Identify the two-cell-wide gap the red block needs before moving it downward.
  • Use Undo when an arrangement removes the space needed to reposition a tall block.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Moving small blocks toward the exit until they obstruct the target's final route.
  • Planning a move that would require a block to rotate or pass through another block.

No. Blocks keep their shape and slide horizontally or vertically into available space.

Which layouts can I play?

Choose the Tutorial layout for more open space or the Classic red-block escape layout for a fuller board. Both support Undo.
