About Block Drop

Block Drop combines spatial planning with a rising pace. Place falling shapes so complete rows disappear, giving yourself room for the next pieces. A flat stack usually provides more choices than a tall, uneven one. The challenge is balancing an ambitious multi-line clear against the immediate need to avoid buried gaps and a blocked top.

Your goal: Clear horizontal lines and build your score before stacked blocks prevent a new piece from entering.

Computers are supported. Phone orientation is a recommendation; rotation is never required.

The tall board suits portrait play. Use the touch movement, rotate and drop controls.

Block Drop tips

  • Fill low areas first to keep the top of your stack reasonably even.
  • Reserve a clear vertical channel when preparing a four-line clear with a long piece.
  • Check a piece's landing position before using Space to hard-drop it.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Covering an empty square that no later piece can reach without clearing the row above.
  • Waiting for one perfect shape while the rest of the stack grows dangerously high.

Questions about Block Drop

How does the level increase?

The level rises every 10 cleared lines. Line-clear points are multiplied by the current level, and pieces fall faster as the level increases.

What is the difference between soft drop and hard drop?

Down moves the piece down more quickly and awards 1 point per dropped cell. Space places it immediately at its lowest legal position and awards 2 points per cell.
